I haven't done a whole lot of exercise since the surgery, and because of the symptoms of anemia, I haven't attempted any cardio workout at all. Anyway, I woke up with this stroing urge to go for a good, uninterrupted walk (guess my body was telling me that it's ready), so I went around the tracks at NTU.

It was 25 degrees Celsius with a light breeze from the south. I walked to the rhythm of the songs in my iPod, soaked in the gentle spring sunlight. In the basketball court in the far right corner were girls passing the ball in pairs. They had on T-shirts and shorts in soft bright colors. Their young faces were red from the exercise and the sun. Members of the university baseball team slowly arrived. After throwing down their gym bags, the boys ran around the tracks to warm up. Every time they ran by the corner in the upper right, they couldn't help slowing down just a touch. I picked up the pace to push myself a bit. Today I walked 6 laps in 40 minutes.

I decided to take a detour on the way home. I remembered I was gonna post the pictures of B-brothers' grafitti to show Iain and Julie. While snaking in the alleys, I took a couple more pictures of street corners in the neighborhood.

I'm thinking..... I ought to do this more often.

  1. (Right now I'm in the public library and about thirty primary school kids have just shuffled in, toting bags, water bottles and bushman hats (mandatory wear for harsh Aussie conditions). I'm bracing myself for an explosion of noise, but it's not coming... What is wrong with the kids of today? They continue to defy my expectations and challenge my stereotypes...)

    Dear Kate,

I liked this post a lot. More situationist wanderings, photos and musings please.
Exercise is good, too. Releases lots of feel-good chemicals into the system. Bill probably knows the names of them (science freeeeeek!).
